UPDATED: Bristol Eastern girls volleyball headed to semifinals for fourth straight year

It may seem commonplace. It may get to the point that people take it for granted.
Another year, another appearance in the state semifinals for Bristol Eastern girls volleyball. No matter who’s playing for the Lancers, head coach Stacy Rivoira always seems to have them prepared and playing their best in the postseason. Eastern has had a tremendous run of success, and it continues in 2015.
The Lancers, the No. 6 seed, clinched their fourth straight trip to Class L’s final four by sweeping No. 14 Avon 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Bristol Eastern High School. The set scores were 25-16, 25-16, 25-23.
Big matches from seniors Paisley Tucker, Megan Gettings, Bailey Wyrebek and Angela Daley were key to Eastern’s strong effort.
With the win, the Lancers will play No. 7 Platt Thursday night in a semifinal at a place and time to be determined. Platt took down No. 2 Fitch 3-2 (25-17, 25-11, 21-25, 21-25, 12-15).
On the other side, top-seeded RHAM takes on No. 5 Farmington in a rematch of last year’s Class L championship, won by Farmington.
The semifinals are Thursday night, and it should be to no one’s surprise that Bristol Eastern is one of the four remaining teams.
