High school basketball starts soon!

The CIAC still has to crown four high school state football champions, and that process begins this week with quarterfinal round games.
Don’t look now, but basketball is just around the corner. For high school girls, it starts on Monday, the first official day of practice. The first day of the season is Monday, Dec. 14.
For high school boys, the first day of practice is this coming Saturday, Dec. 5. The season begins on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Here’s how each team in the Sports on CT-69 area begins their 2015-2016 season (Bold means season opener):

GIRLS BASKETBALL
No one starts playing until Tuesday, Dec. 15. The annual City Jamboree is on Dec. 12 at Kennedy High School.

BOYS BASKETBALL
The annual City Jamboree is on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Kennedy, so Waterbury teams will be waiting until the week after to play their season openers. Kaynor Tech will host a CSC Tip Off Tournament that same day.
