Nicol ends the WCSU season with good performance, victory

Former Wolcott standout Michael Nicol accounted nearly 200 yards of offense in Western Connecticut State football’s 63-42 win over Westfield State University on Friday night in Danbury.
The junior ran the ball 22 times for 147 yards and a touchdown. Nicol also caught five passes for 48 yards and another touchdown.
For the season, Nicol ran for 1,139 yards and 14 touchdowns, both tops on the team. He averaged 4.9 yards per rush and fumbled just once. The converted quarterback also passed 11 times, completing eight of them for 84 yards. Nicol finished third on the team in catches with 30 for 273 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore defensive end Bryan Ballenilla (Wilby High School) finished the year with a team-leading 11 sacks. He was third on the team in tackles with 49, and he also forced two fumbles.
Seniors CJ McIntosh (Holy Cross) and Oscar Jean-Baptiste (Kennedy) played in their final games in a WCSU uniform. The Colonials finished the season with a record of 5-5.
