Bristol Central wrestling wins Plainville Invitational

To describe last season as frustrating for Bristol Central wrestling would be too easy.
Injuries and illnesses combined to sap the Rams of the depth they needed to compete. Central ended up 12th in the Class L state meet. The Rams dealt with a lot, too much at times.
Central got off to a running start with a 51-30 win over East Hartford in their 2015-2016 season opener Tuesday.
How do you cap off opening week in style? By winning the tournament you compete in, of course.
Central took first place at the Plainville Invitational Saturday behind some great individual efforts. Sophomore Chris Trelli (106 pounds), senior Shane Oxton (145), senior Jacob “Kuba” Kreciglowa (152), senior Julian Galindez (160) and junior Brett Scully (182) each took first place in their respective weight classes.
Central looks to keep the momentum going on Tuesday at home against Platt at 6 p.m. It’s the first CCC South Division meet of the season for the Rams.
