Sacred Heart’s Tyrn Flowers headed to UMass

Sacred Heart boys basketball already has one big-time Division I commit in its lineup in Mustapha Heron, who’s headed to Auburn.
Well, it’s time to add another one to the list. Six-foot-nine guard Tyrn Flowers has committed to UMass, according to the Twitter account of his AAU team, the NY Rens.
Flowers has been a force on the offensive and defensive end for Sacred Heart in his senior season. The left-hander has a smooth stroke from the outside, but he can finish with authority inside. In Sacred Heart’s game against Kennedy last Friday, Flowers showed what a nightmare he can be with 24 points and several blocked shots.
Of his commitment to UMass, Flowers told ESPN Recruiting Nation’s Adam Finkelstein: “I fell in love with the campus and the facility, I thought of the players as brothers and I had a great relationship with Coach [Derek] Kellogg and Adam Ginsburg.”
There will now be two former Hearts to follow at the next level.
