Bristol Eastern wrestling keeps moving up the state ranks

Bristol Eastern wrestling has had some impressive wins this season, and the state coaches have taken notice.
The Lancers moved up to No. 5 in this week’s Norwich Bulletin state coaches poll after posting a pair of big victories on Saturday. Eastern was ranked eighth last week.
One of those wins on Saturday was 32-29 over Ledyard, ranked No. 9 at the time, in a series of dual meets at Fairfield Warde High School. Justin Marshall’s pin at 120 pounds in the final bout was the difference, though Zach Marquis had a key 7-6 decision at 182.
Eastern also scored a 53-21 win over then No. 3 Fairfield Warde, making it two victories over Top 10 teams in one day. The Lancers also knocked off Carmel, N.Y., 59-12.
It was a great Saturday for Eastern, but there was no let up last night. The Lancers knocked off Hall and Wethersfield at Bristol Eastern High School.
Eastern has won seven dual meets in a row since losing to Middletown on Jan. 13. There’s just three regular dates left for the Lancers. Eastern goes to Platt tomorrow, travels to the New Fairfield Duels on Saturday, then head over to Bristol Central on Feb. 10 for a match against the city rival Rams.
