Bristol Central boys lose at buzzer

The Bristol Central boys basketball team won its final regular season game to snag a Class L state tournament berth.
The win over Berlin earned the No. 34 Rams a trip to No. 31 Bethel in a qualifying round matchup on Friday night. Central trailed 43-37 with three minutes left, but rallied to take a 48-47 lead. Bethel had the ball, but just nine ticks remained on the clock. A Wildcat shot missed, but a short putback at the buzzer did not, and the Rams lost 49-48.
Sophomore Jaekwon Spencer led Central with 16 points. Tamir Hornesby had 13 points and Jamil Hornesby tallied 12 points.
It was the final game for Central seniors Jalen Benoit, Andrew Marcantonio, A.J. Pahl, Tyshaun Rodriguez and Tamir Hornesby. The Rams finished the season with a record of 8-13.
