Bristol Eastern baseball picks up win over Bristol Central at Muzzy Field

The first high school game at Muzzy Field this spring featured a pair of strong left-handed pitchers.
Nate Carney went for Bristol Eastern and Brad Burney took the ball for Bristol Central as the rival teams met at the historic park on Monday night.

Bristol Eastern’s Nate Carney improved to 7-0 after Monday night’s 4-2 win over Bristol Central at Muzzy Field.

Carney grabbed his seventh win of the season against zero losses as the Lancers knocked off Burney and the Rams by a score of 4-2. Eastern improved to 17-2 with the victory, including a 7-1 mark in the CCC South Blue Division. The Lancers claimed the division title by two games over New Britain.

Cory Fradette had a two-run triple for Eastern, which will be the No. 1 seed in Class L for the second straight year. The Lancers have one final game against Hall on Wednesday at Bristol Eastern High School.
Central is 11-8 (4-4 Blue Division) and has one final game at home against Maloney on Wednesday. The Rams are currently 18th in the Class LL state tournament standings.
