St. Paul girls tennis takes down Immaculate in Class S qualifying round

The St. Paul girls tennis team began the Class S state tournament at the friendly confines of Peck Park in Bristol on Saturday against Immaculate.
The No. 10 Falcons did what they had to do and claimed a 5-2 win over the No. 23 Mustangs in their qualifying round matchup. St. Paul earned a first round tilt with NVL foe Sacred Heart, the No. 7 seed, on Monday at 1 p.m. at Fulton Park in Waterbury.
The Falcons and Hearts faced each other once during the regular, on April 19 at Fulton. Sacred Heart knocked off St. Paul 5-2 that day.
The Hearts were the top seed in the NVL Tournament and made it to the semifinal round, where they were defeated by eventual league champion Naugatuck.
