Great run comes up one game short for Bristol Eastern baseball

Bristol Eastern baseball came up one game short of its ultimate goal, losing to East Lyme in the Class L semifinal.

The top-seeded Bristol Eastern baseball team was one game away from having a chance to recreate the state championship magic of 30 years ago.
Fourth-seeded East Lyme stood in the way, and the Vikings proved to be a giant the Lancers couldn’t slay. East Lyme took advantage of untimely errors and added lots of hitting for a 15-2 Class L semifinal win at Middletown’s Palmer Field.
Bristol Eastern saw a wonderful run come to a close on Tuesday night. The Lancers finish with a record of 21-3. East Lyme plays No. 11 Notre Dame-West Haven in the state final on Friday or Saturday at Palmer Field. The time is to be determined.
It was the final game for Bristol Eastern seniors Greg Lozier, Brian McPhee, Nate Hickey, Evan McGinley, Zach Martin, Nate Carney and Adrian James.
