Former Wolcott and Wilby standout Manny Cruz has raised his average to .286 in eight games played with the Arizona League Reds.
Cruz now sports a .375 on-base percentage, and he has also logged the first extra-base hits of his professional career. In yesterday’s game against the Brewers, Cruz tripled, drove in a run and scored a run. Cruz’s first extra-base hit, a double, came in a June 30 game against the Giants. Cruz drove in a run that game as well.
Cruz has a hit in four straight games. For the season, he has three multi-hit games.
In the field, Cruz has played both shortstop and second base. He has made one error in 29 total chances. That error came at shortstop in his second game, and he hasn’t made one since.
