Waterbury Post 1 takes Legion doubleheader from Naugatuck, and then some

The Waterbury Post 1 American Legion team managed to win three separate times against Zone 5 foe Naugatuck on Sunday at Bucks Hill Park.

Jamie Butler played a big part in
Waterbury’s wins over Naugatuck.
He was the winning pitcher in the
second game of Sunday’s double dip.

You may ask: How is that possible? Well, Waterbury and Naugatuck had to first finish a game suspended from June 16 before starting their regularly-scheduled doubleheader.
In the completion of the suspended game, Waterbury won 5-4. The game was suspended because the lights at Bucks Hill Park went out. The contest resumed with Waterbury up 5-2, but Naugatuck scored twice to get the deficit to 5-4. Post 1 was able to close the game out and take the win.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Waterbury smoked Naugatuck by an 11-0 margin. Post 1 completed the sweep with a 7-2 victory in the second game.
