MINOR LEAGUE MENTIONS: Matt Blandino gets first win

He may not have piled up the strikeouts in his most recent start, but Matt Blandino picked up something more rewarding…his first win.

Blandino threw 5.2 innings for the Arizona League Reds against the White Sox on Aug. 25. The former Bristol Central standout gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits, struck out three and walked one on the way to his first professional victory. The Reds won the game 9-3.
For the season, Blandino is 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA. He has struck out 30 in 31.1 innings of work.
