The major highlights for the Spartans were state tournament appearances by their softball and baseball teams. Softball won its first-ever state tournament game.

"We are very excited to be in our inaugural year in the NVL," WCA athletic director Ryan McDonald wrote in an email. "Our coaches and players have worked hard to reach this point and are looking forward to competing against our sister schools here in Waterbury and the teams throughout the league."
It's certainly a step up in competition for the Spartans after playing a mix of NVL and technical high schools last season. Still, WCA has been putting in work.

And the Spartans are happy to be where they are.
"We are proud to be in a league that is well respected like the NVL," McDonald wrote.
