New area soccer coaches getting acclimated, finding success in early season

Scott Redman used to make the trek across town from Bristol Eastern High School to Bristol Central to coach the girls soccer team.
This season, he stays at BEHS to coach the Lancer girls, and so far, they are off to a 2-0 start. Eastern defeated Maloney 3-2 last Saturday night under the lights of Ceppa Field in Meriden. The Lancers played their home opener on Tuesday and blanked Plainville by a score of 6-0.
Redman is off to a good start with his new team, but he knows they can be even better.
“Still not the “A Game” we’re searching for but a convincing 6-0 win vs Plainville to move to 2-0,” Redman wrote on Twitter under the name @BEHS_Soccer.
Eastern plays at Platt on Friday. After another road match Monday against Hall of West Hartford, the Lancers return home Wednesday for a matchup with East Catholic.

Bristol Central boys unbeaten under new coach
Former Redman assistant Nate Jandreau has the Bristol Central boys soccer team sitting at 1-0-1 after two close matches.
Jandreau, the third head coach the Rams have had in less than a year, has guided the team through a tight home match with New Britain and a tough road tilt with Newington. Central won the New Britain match 4-3, then tied Newington 2-2.
Next up for Central is Wethersfield at home on Friday.

Another former Redman assistant wins her first match
Redman’s other assistant coach with Bristol Central, Ginny Godbout, took over the Ram girls soccer team.
All Godbout did in her first match was pick up her first win as head coach, 4-0 over New Britain on the turf of Veterans Stadium in New Britain. Central lost 2-0 to Newington on Tuesday. The next match for the Rams is Friday at Wethersfield.

St. Paul’s new leader gets his first ‘W’
Joe Abele’s first match as St. Paul boys soccer head coach was an adventurous one, to say the least.
The Falcons went toe to toe with the Kennedy Eagles, only to lose 6-5 in a wild road match. Next up for St. Paul was the first-year varsity team from Waterbury Career Academy. The Falcons overwhelmed the Spartans 8-2 to give Abele his first win.
St. Paul plays its first home match on Friday against Watertown.
