Pendaris (Monroe College athletics)

Gerron Pendarvis, Monroe College football
The Monroe College Mustangs are a perfect 5-0, and the former Holy Cross player helped get them there in a 31-19 win over ASA College last Saturday.
The Mustangs trailed 7-0 until 4:47 left in the first quarter, then Jared Calhoun made a field goal. Forty-one seconds later, Monroe had the lead for good at 10-7 and Pendarvis was the reason why.
Pendarvis scooped up an ASA fumble and scampered 33 yards for the touchdown. It was a pivotal play in the game, and Pendarvis was in the right place at the right time.
For the game, Pendarvis led the Mustangs in tackles with eight, including two for a loss. He also had a sack.
Pendarvis is a 6-2 sophomore defensive lineman. Pendarvis is tied for the team lead in sacks with four. He ranks second in tackles with 21, and seven and a half of those have gone for a loss on the play.

The former Holy Cross signal-caller put the Gulls on the board in last Saturday’s game when he ran the ball in for a touchdown.

McPhee (ECSU athletics)

Mariah McPhee, Eastern Connecticut State cross country
McPhee is in her senior season with the Warriors, and she had her best finish of the year so far over the weekend.
Competing in the TriState Invitational at Community College of Rhode Island, McPhee placed fifth overall — first on her team — with a time of 21:13.53 on the 5K course. Four of her teammates finished 7-10 overall.
ECSU came in second to Salve Regina, who had the 1-4 runners in the race.
It is the second Top 10 finish of the season for McPhee. She took 10th at the season-opening meet, the Trinity Bantam XC Invitational, held on Sept. 10 at Wickham Park in East Hartford.
McPhee was certainly familiar with Wickham, given her prowess as a high school cross country runner for Bristol Eastern. She was All-CCC South as a senior, a team captain, and she capped it off by qualifying for the State Open.
McPhee aspires to be a teacher.

Sarah Namazi, Post University tennis
The sophomore and Kennedy High School graduate has been solid for the Eagles this season.
Namazi hasn’t loss a singles match since Sept. 16. She is 7-1 with five straight wins to her credit.
