Sacred Heart boys soccer headed to state tourney after seven-year drought

This is one scoreless tie Sacred Heart boys soccer will take in a heartbeat.
The Hearts and Kennedy Eagles played to a 0-0 draw Friday afternoon on the Ray Snyder Sr. Field turf at the Municipal Stadium complex. Sacred Heart needed one more point to clinch a Class S state tournament berth, and it got the point.
The Hearts finish the regular season with a record of 6-8-2.
You have to go back to 2009 to find the last time Sacred Heart appeared in the tournament. The Hearts went 9-6-1 in the regular season and earned the No. 12 seed in Class S that year. Sacred Heart made it all the way to the quarterfinal round.
Legend Johnson is the lone senior for Gianni Perugini’s squad this season.
