GIRLS SOCCER: NVL runner-up Holy Cross gets home game in Class S

The state tournament pairings were released by the CIAC this morning, and here’s where the locals stand in girls soccer. Game times, and even locations, are subject to change.

Holy Cross (10-3-3 regular season)
Class S
No. 10 seed
The Crusaders, who are the NVL Tournament runner-up, will host No. 23 Wolcott Tech (6-7-2 regular season) on Monday at 2 p.m. It’s the first-ever state tournament appearance for the Wildcats, a very exciting time for their program. Holy Cross was a semifinalist last year. The winner plays at No. 7 Coventry (11-3-2, bye) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

St. Paul (10-4-2)
Class S
No. 12 seed
The Falcons also get a home game on Monday at 2 p.m. St. Paul will play No. 21 Lyman Memorial (7-7-2). The Falcons had a historic regular season and qualified for the NVL Tournament, where they lost in the first round to Wolcott. The winner of St. Paul-Lyman heads to Falls Village to play No. 5 Housatonic (12-4, bye) Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Wolcott (11-1-4)
Class M
No. 7 seed
The Eagles also had a great regular season, and made it to the NVL Tournament semifinal round. Wolcott draws No. 26 Rocky Hill (7-7-2) in a 2 p.m. first round matchup on Monday. The winner plays either No. 10 Northwest Catholic (11-5) or No. 23 Waterford (7-6-3) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the higher seed.

Bristol Eastern (7-8-1)
Class L
No. 21 seed
The Lancers go on the road, but not terribly far away to CCC foe Avon. The Falcons are the No. 12 seed (11-4-1). The match is Monday at 2 p.m. and the winner plays at No. 5 East Lyme (14-1-1) Wednesday at 2 p.m.
