TOURNEY TIME: Bristol Eastern girls volleyball reaches another quarterfinal

Bristol Eastern girls volleyball was the lone local team to win on Thursday. The Kennedy girls volleyball and St. Paul boys soccer teams saw their seasons come to a close. Here’s what happened:

Class L Girls Volleyball
No. 8 Bristol Eastern 3, No. 9 Naugatuck 0
The Lancers swept the Greyhounds to reach the quarterfinal round of the state tournament for the 14th straight season.
You have to go back to 2002 to find the last time a Bristol Eastern girls volleyball team didn’t reach the quarterfinal round. The set scores against Naugatuck were 25-16, 25-23 and 25-10. 
Eastern will play No. 1 Farmington on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Farmington High School. The Indians knocked off the No. 16 Platt Panthers in straight sets on Wednesday.  


No. 10 Bunnell 3, No. 7 Kennedy
The Eagles saw their season come to an end against the Bulldogs from Stratford.
The set scores were 25-21, 25-18 and 25-18. Kennedy ended the season with a record of 16-7. It was the final match for Eagle seniors Kailee Alvarado, Carson Delaney, Ariana Ramos, Joyce Benton, Shelley Evia and Damiya Saunders.    

Class S Boys Soccer
No. 13 Wamogo 3, No. 29 St. Paul 1
Two days after upsetting No. 4 Parish Hill, the Falcons saw their season come to an end against the Warriors.
St. Paul finished the season with a record of 7-10-1. It was the final match for Falcon seniors Marc Noujaim, Elijah Kennedy, Paul Crouse and Chandler Wright.

Gallino 13th in Class S Diving
Sacred Heart junior Alexa Gallino finished 13th in the Class S Diving Championships held at Hartford’s Bulkeley High School.
