WOLCOTT’S WEEKLY ROUNDUP: Pretty good day for Eagles at Jack Long indoor track meet

Indoor track competes at Jack Long Invitational
Wolcott traveled to New Haven and a meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
The performance of the day came from Jonathon Maldonado, who was second in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:41.89.
Kathryn
Rodrigues had the best finish for the girls, taking sixth in the
1,600-meter run. Cynthia Dias also had a Top 10, placing eighth in the
55-meter hurdles. Morgan Veronisi (pole vault), Kaitlyn Rosato (high jump), Nicole Nelson (shot put) and Kathryn Rodrigues (3,200) finished just outside the Top 10 in other events.

Pat Drewry led Wolcott with 17 points against New Milford.

Eagle boys still looking for first win
The Wolcott boys basketball team will still be in search of its first win of the season this week.
The Eagles battled back into their Friday afternoon non-league game against New Milford after falling behind early, but the Green Wave held on for a 60-53 victory. New Milford picked up its first win (1-4) while Wolcott dropped to 0-4.
Mike Tessarzik (9 points) made a couple 3s late in the first half to help get the Eagles back into the game. There were also contributions from Chris Harris (6 points) and Bob White (7) during that comeback effort.
Pat Drewry led Wolcott with 17 points while Jack Drewry added 12.
The Eagles struggled early on with the pressure defense of the Green Wave, but did better once they acquired a rhythm.

Wolcott girls lose close one to undefeated Kennedy
Wolcott gave Kennedy a battle on Wednesday afternoon inside Jack Taglia Gymnasium, but the home team claimed a 45-42 win.

Saranda Alka led Wolcott with 14 points while Megan Doubleday added 12. Wolcott dropped to 4-2 on the season.
