Elder (SNHU athletics)

Ashley Elder, Southern New Hampshire University track and field
Elder had a big day at the Yellow Jacket Invite held on Saturday at host American International College in Springfield, Mass.
For that effort, Elder was named Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. At the Yellow Jacket Invite, Elder won the discus with a meet record toss of 42.38 meters (139 feet). That throw was also a personal best for Elder, a former multi-sport Bristol Central standout.
Elder also earned points for her team with a seventh place finish in the shot put. She also competed in the hammer throw, where she placed 11th.
Elder comes home to Connecticut this weekend — New London, to be exact — for the Silfen Invitational on Saturday. The event is hosted by Connecticut College.

Jillian Kilmer, Sacred Heart University track and field

Kilmer (Sacred Heart athletics)

Injuries have kept the St. Paul standout sidelined for too long, but she finally got the chance to compete in a heptathlon.
Kilmer excelled at the heptathlon while at St. Paul, and she didn’t disappoint in the Multis Heptathlon last week. Kilmer finished second out of five entries.
The freshman was the top Northeast Conference finisher and scored 3,813 points. In the heptathlon, Kilmer won the high jump and javelin. She finished second in the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 800-meter run and shot put.
Kilmer’s high jump is fifth overall in the NEC. She’s also NEC Top 20 in the 100-meter hurdles and the javelin.
The Multis Heptathlon was hosted by Mount St. Mary’s and was held in Emmitsburg, Md.

Ettienne (Ohio State athletics)

Stephen Ettienne, Southern Connecticut State University Head Diving Coach
This former Sacred Heart High School and Ohio State University star was a tremendous diver as a competitor.
Now he’s putting in work as a coach back in his home state and being rewarded for it. Ettienne, the head coach for diving at SCSU, was honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for his efforts.
Ettienne was named Northeast-10 Diving Coach of the Year. Junior Salim Lemond of Oxford (Oxford High School), who is under Ettienne’s tutelage, was chosen as Men’s Diver of the Year in the conference.
In 2015, Ettienne was named honorable mention All-American for diving. It was his senior season at Ohio State.

Gioielli (CCSU athletics)

Joe Gioielli, Central Connecticut State University track and field

It’s the second win of the season for Gioielli, who took first place in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:57.73 at the Bryant University Black and Gold Invitational in Smithfield, R.I.
