ROUNDUP: St. Paul boys lacrosse comes back to win season opener at Bristol Central

The first quarter was all Bristol Central in their boys lacrosse season opener against St. Paul under the home lights Saturday at Bristol Central High School.
The Rams came out firing and led 5-1 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, however, the Falcons were up 6-5 after owning the second quarter. St. Paul erupted for six more goals in the third quarter to seize a 12-7 lead.
In the fourth quarter, St. Paul’s defense seized control and helped the Falcons close out a 15-8 victory.
St. Paul returns first team All-Western Connecticut Lacrosse Conference performers Eric Passeck (senior), Darek Wiecki (junior) and Kevin Ashworth (sophomore). Passeck, Ashworth and freshman Tucker Raymond accounted for 12 of the 15 St. Paul goals, according to a story on The Bristol Press website. Freshman David Harold also stood out for the Falcons. Thank you to Paul Aiello for the score updates.
Seniors Connor Staubley and Cody Hildebrand hope to lead Central to a solid season under new head coach Mike Gissas.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Immaculate 15, St. Paul 2: It was a tough opener for the Falcons, who were downed by the Mustangs in Danbury.
St. Paul is led by senior captains Sydney Palma, Anne Sullivan, Morgan Middleton and Alyssa Kaczynski. Sullivan and Middleton are attackers, Palma is on defense, and Kasczynski is the goalie, according to the CIAC roster. Patience will be key for the Falcons and their supporters.
