Bristol Central, St. Paul track and field athletes take part in national meet

Track and field athletes from Bristol Central and St. Paul took part in the 2017 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championship meet on Friday at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
Bristol Central freshman David Bowes took 16th in the country in the freshmen 400-meter dash. The Rams competed in the emerging elite portion of the 800-meter sprint medley, and the team of seniors Luis Medina, Sean Fitzgerald and Kaynan Conrod combined with Bowes to take 19th place.
St. Paul junior Christian Sturm got the chance to compete at the emerging elite level of the hammer throw. Sturm finished in 23rd place in the event.
The New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championship continues on Saturday and Sunday.
