Bristol Knights off to another strong start in Twilight League

The Bristol Knights are again off to a strong start in the Connecticut Twilight League.
Bristol improved to 8-3 with an 11-2 victory over the Wethersfield Dodgers. The Knights have won six of their last seven games during this most recent hot stretch. Bristol was scheduled to play at Bristol Eastern on Friday against the Brickhouse Indians.
The usual suspects have been there for Bristol, including Earl Oakes, Rick Barrett, Marco Ross and Julio Ortiz-Rivera, along with newcomers like Tyler Pina from Plainville and Neil Kelley of West Hartford.
One familiar face who will be hanging up his playing spikes after the season is Scott Dickens. The player/coach was hit by a pitch in his final Muzzy Field at bat on May 17. Dickens has suited up for many a Bristol team, from the Monahan League to the Twilight League, the Tigers to the Lancers, Post 2 and finally the Knights. He started with the Monahan League Tigers in 1991 and has become very familiar with the friendly confines of Muzzy since.
Of note, the league will hold its third Home Run Derby on June 23 at 6 p.m. at dinger-friendly Martin Park in East Hartford. The event should be a blast with plenty of balls finding their way out of the park.
