TRI-STATE: Battle of young squads goes to Bristol Greeners

The Bristol Greeners and Valley Thunder came into their June 29th game with just one win each on their respective ledgers.
Someone was going to get that elusive second Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League victory at Tyrrell Middle School in Wolcott. Bristol jumped out to a five-run lead, then Valley rallied, but it came up a run short as the Greeners claimed a 5-4 win over the Thunder.
Jerry LaPenta IV and Tony Nicoletti each two hits each as Bristol jumped ahead and gave starter Brad Burney a comfortable lead to work with. Valley rallied for four runs in the sixth off of reliever Tyler Cyr, but Cyr shut the door before the Thunder could tie the game.
Matt Meier tossed a complete game in the loss for Valley.
The Greeners improved to 2-11 while the Thunder dropped to 1-10.
