Marchi, Wright connect for SportsCenter Top 10 play

Former St. Paul quarterback Logan Marchi has had a solid three starts at Temple, but Friday’s 29-21 win over UMass produced a highlight-reel play.

Just to make it more awesome, Marchi combined with fellow local Isaiah Wright, the Waterbury native and former Holy Cross and Kingswood Oxford standout. Wright did his part to make sure the play ended up on SportsCenter’s Top 10.
Here’s what happened:
There was less than four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, and Temple led UMass 22-14. On 3rd and 5 from the 13, Marchi threw toward the back right corner of the end zone. Wright reached out his left hand and snared the ball just before the out of bounds line for a spectacular touchdown.

The play wound up being No. 3 on the Top 10. Here’s the clip, shared by the Temple football Twitter account.

Earlier in the drive, Marchi connected with Wright on a 3rd and 7 from the UMass 47. Wright caught the ball around the first down marker and broke a tackle. He then puke a nasty juke move on one defender and a terrific spin to get away from another. Wright was brought down, 29 yards later, for a huge first down.

Marchi was 22-of-37 for 248 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the game. He completed passes to 11 different receivers. Wright was his biggest target with four catches (tied for the team lead), a team-high 69 yards and the Top 10 touchdown.
