Polzella, Ligi lead Wolcott offensive outburst in win at Crosby

Wolcott senior quarterback Mike Polzella had a monster night Friday in his team’s 50-14 road win over Crosby at Jimmy Lee Stadium.
Polzella accounted for seven touchdowns (six passing, one rushing) and totaled 370 yards of offense. He was 15-for-25 passing for 292 yards with a long of 60. Polzella also ran for 78 yards with a long of 42. He was involved in the first seven Wolcott touchdowns, with the initial six going through the air.
Anthony Ligi continued to contribute big time to the Eagle offense. Ligi totaled 231 yards (157 receiving, 74 rushing) and had two touchdown receptions. Ligi wasn’t the only Wolcott receiver to have a good night. Santino Ciarlo caught two passes for 37 yards, but each went for a touchdown. Mike Ciarlo had four catches for 57 yards, Nick Longo hauled in three for 25 yards and a score, and Matt Amedeo took in one pass for a 16-yard touchdown.
Jake Sforza carried seven times for 34 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Wolcott recorded five sacks and an interception. Tom Reardon had two of those sacks while Jake Filippone led in tackles with 10, including two for losses.
Alberim Klenja went 14-for-26 for 207 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Crosby in the loss.
Wolcott improved to 2-1 with the win while Crosby dropped to 1-2.
