The Eagles couldn't duplicate the effort against top-seeded Seymour, and the Wildcats won the match 3-0. The set scores were 25-5, 25-13, 25-19. Seymour plays Torrington, a winner over Woodland, in the final on Thursday.
Wolcott turns its focus to the Class M state tournament. Tournament pairings will be released on Friday. Seymour, Torrington, Oxford, Woodland and Ansonia are all in Class M as well.
The Eagles made mistakes in the first set Monday, and the Wildcats jumped all over them. Seymour grabbed the first five points and never looked back. Wolcott was a little better in the second set, but found itself down 2-0 to the defending Class M state champions.
The Eagles battled the Wildcats in the third set and even had the lead. Seymour All-NVL player Molly Kennedy made sure the match wouldn't be extended with some stellar finishes.
Carolyn Osvald had eight blocks and four kills while Regan Richard added 21 digs and two kills.
