It was a long trip, but a successful one Saturday for the Bristol Eastern boys soccer team.
The No. 33 Lancers blew out No. 32 Cheney Tech 6-0 in a Class L qualifying round match.
Eastern (6-7-4) earned the right to play another game, and that will happen on Monday at 4 p.m. when it faces top-seeded E.O. Smith in Storrs.
In another Class L qualifier, No. 35 Wilby lost 3-0 at No. 30 Weston. Weston moves on to play No. 3 Guilford on Monday at 6 p.m. in Guilford. The Wildcats finished the season with a record 6-10-1.
Full-fledged state tournament play begins on Monday.
