CROSS COUNTRY ROUNDUP: Hotchkiss claims best area finish in State Open and class meets

Kennedy senior Kyle Hotchkiss finished 24th overall out of 181 runners in Friday’s cross country State Open at Wickham Park.
Sophomore teammate Alex Brites was the next local finisher in 78th place. The top local girl at the State Open was Wolcott sophomore Kathryn Rodrigues, who took 41st overall.
Here’s what happened in the class meets:

CLASS L BOYS: Hotchkiss claimed second place, finishing in 16:50. Winner Eli Nahom, a junior from New Milford, ran 16:29. Brites was seventh overall, Bristol Central teammates Mark Petrosky and Devin Flores were 13th and 14th. Petrosky is a sophomore, Flores a junior. Bristol Central finished fifth as a team while Kennedy took eighth.
CLASS L GIRLS: Bristol Eastern freshman Avery Braccia finished 33rd.
CLASS M BOYS: Wolcott freshman Nick Bendsten took 23rd.
CLASS M GIRLS: Rodrigues claimed eighth place.
CLASS SS BOYS: St. Paul sophomore Aidan Reilly finished in 37th place.
CLASS S GIRLS: St. Paul sophomore Kailyn Bielecki placed 15th.
