Mustapha Heron once again earns SEC weekly top player honor

Heron (Auburn athletics)

Sophomore Mustapha Heron became the fourth Auburn men’s basketball player to earn SEC Player of the Week honors twice in the same season.
The top weekly awards were announced on Monday, and Heron was Co-Player of the Week, along with Daryl Macon of Arkansas. The former Sacred Heart High School star averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in wins over Missouri and LSU.
In the game at Missouri, Heron posted 14 points and 11 rebounds in his fifth career double-double. He played 34 minutes and shot 5-of-12 from the field and 3-of-4 at the foul line. Heron also recorded two assists and a steal.
Auburn hosted LSU on Saturday, and Heron put up some ridiculous numbers. He had 21 points in 27 minutes and shot 8-of-10 from the floor. Six of those attempts came from behind the three-point line, and four of them dropped through the net. Heron handed out a pair of assists and came up with two steals.
Auburn was red-hot on offense in the two games, averaging 93 points each time out. The Tigers won by an average of 21.5 points per game and own a record of 19-2. Auburn is at Ole Miss on Tuesday night.
