Watson joins Solomon and Gaiter in 1,000-point club, but Hearts knock off Spartans

Waterbury Career Academy junior Marquan Watson joined Sacred Heart’s Raheem Solomon and Isiah Gaiter in the 1,000-point club during Friday night’s game, but the Hearts duo had the last laugh against the Spartans.
Sacred Heart (12-2, 12-0 NVL) rallied from a seven-point second half deficit, then survived two tying three-point attempts by WCA (10-4, 9-3) to escape with a 68-65 victory at Alumni Hall. Watson led the Spartans with 23 points.

Solomon was the game’s high-scorer with 40 — you read that right, 40 — points. Teammate Isiah Gaiter had 21, including two driving layups in the fourth quarter that drew an and-one situation. Solomon and Gaiter soared threw the air for several dunks, and they scored 61 of the 68 Heart points.
For WCA, Matt Torres sank four 3-pointers on the way to 20 points and Jadan Battle added 13 points. The Spartans led 21-19 after one quarter, the the Hearts claimed a 35-34 advantage entering halftime. The game was even at 54 entering the fourth quarter.
