Former Wilby High School star and Division I college basketball player Walter Wright III had to deal with change in his rookie season of pro ball.
“The marathon continues. It’s official… Mongolia, Asia to finish this rookie season,” Wright posted on Twitter on March 22.
A rookie year that began in Zilina, Slovakia, switched to the Far East and the Mongolian National Basketball Association. Wright is now playing for Tanan Garid. His first game for his new team came on Wednesday at 7 p.m., or 7 a.m. on Tuesday in our time.
Tanan Garid lost 84-71, but Wright made a good first impression. He played 30 minutes and scored 24 points on 8-of-18 shooting, including 3-of-8 on 3-pointers. Wright also had five rebounds, six assists and two steals while committing three turnovers.
