Sacred Heart senior boys basketball basketball standout Raheem Solomon signed his National Letter of Intent to Division I Niagara University on Tuesday.
Solomon figures to get a chance to contribute early for the Purple Eagles. Niagara loses three senior guards from this past season's team to graduation, including redshirt senior Kahlil Dukes, who played for Capital Prep in Hartford. Dukes originally went to USC, then transferred to Niagara. Dukes was Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention as a senior with the Purple Eagles.
As for Solomon, what is there to say about what he has done at Sacred Heart? Four straight NVL championships without a single loss, three state championships, and the third highest point total in program history are just part of his accolades.
This stat is by far the most astounding: 107-1. That was Sacred Heart's record against CIAC opponents during Solomon's time in the program. Solomon did everything, and I mean everything, he could to make that record 108-0 in the Division I state final loss to Notre Dame-Fairfield.
Solomon joins half-brother Mustapha Heron, Tyrn Flowers and Malik Petteway in the recent slate of Hearts who have made their way to a Division I college basketball program.
